Project Overview

1. Pre-Installation Assessment

Our Starlink Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) performed an initial offsite assessment to collect customer’s service request requirements for the Starlink installation. This preliminary step allows the team to determine the site conditions and property structure using satellite imagery and onsite photos. Including the appropriate installation method, cable routing path, installation materials needed for one-visit Starlink installation.

After the assessment, the installation proposal was communicated with the customer for approval. Once approved, the installation materials were procured and the installation schedule was coordinated with our professional Starlink installers in Lafayette, LA.

2. Onsite Starlink Installation in Lafayette, LA

Our Starlink installation pros arrived as scheduled and began the installation with a Starlink obstruction test. This test evaluates the surrounding environment for any potential interference, such as trees, buildings or other structures that may obstruct the satellite’s line of sight to the Starlink satellite signal.

Based on the obstruction data, the installation team identified the optimal mounting location and proceeded with dish mounting preparations. Using the long extendable wall mount, the dish was securely installed to the wall beneath the roof with clear view of the sky.

The team then routed the Starlink cable from the dish to the designated indoor location for the Gen3 WiFi mesh router. They connected the cable and power supply to the router, powered on the system. And proceeded to activate and configure the router using the customer’s Starlink account. Setting up a personalized network name (SSID) and password for secure access.

In addition, the customer was oriented on how to use the Starlink app such as performance monitoring, device management and basic troubleshooting.

3. Optimization and Performance Testing

The team performed a Starlink alignment test to verify the satellite dish’s positioning. This crucial step ensures the dish has a clear line of sight and maintains a stable connection with the Starlink satellite network.

Following alignment, the team performed anadvanced Starlink speed test to assess the system’s internet performance. The Starlink advanced speed test shows a strong and reliable connection with a download speed of 222 Mbps, upload speed of 36 Mbps, and a low latency of 16 ms. These results indicate excellent performance for streaming, online gaming, video conferencing, and cloud-based work, even in a mobile or remote setup. The fast download and solid upload speeds, combined with surprisingly low ping for satellite internet, suggest an optimized installation

It is important to note that Starlink systems may require up to 12 to 24 hours to optimize the internet speed. During this period, users may experience fluctuations in performance as the dish optimizes its connection with the constellation of satellites.
